Hair Coloring and Perms

There are very few studies of hair dye use during human pregnancy. In animal studies, at doses 100 times higher than what would normally be used in human application, no significant changes were seen in fetal development. However, we recommend waiting until after the first trimester.

We do not recommend perms in the first trimester. Beyond that, you can get a perm, but the curl may not take as well as it does when you are not pregnant because of pregnancy hormones.
